Education for Sustainable Development in Primary Education Textbooks—An Educational Approach from Statistical and Probabilistic Literacy

Based on the Stochastic Education Approach to Sustainability Education, statistical and probability tasks for sustainability education in a collection of primary school mathematics textbooks Chile (6–14 years old) were analyzed. A content analysis was carried out based four categories: contexts sustainability, levels articulation, cognitive demand, authenticity. The results show that: (1) there is low presence sustainability; (2) are not articulated develop any Sustainable Development Goals; (3) clear predominance memorization tasks; (4) teaching statistics aligned with (ESD). These roadmap new educational approach that allows design educate Primary Education. This should promote that, through progressive development probabilistic literacy, students understand different problems (social, economic environmental) we faced with, as well measures must be adopted transform act more sustainable world.
